Kosta Browne: Making Digital Tangible
The website for Kosta Browne provides a platform for various creatives to tell stories about the esteemed producer. With the purchase of the Cerise Vineyard in Anderson Valley, Lindsey Ross was commissioned to document the property with a massive civil war era camera – our challenge was designing a story format that would do justice to the depth and complexity of the extremely tactile images Lindsey produced.
So much of digital design is about making content quickly digestible. While we certainly ascribe to this approach, Lindsey’s time-intensive process inspired us to employ a story format that would encourage a closer look. Images are presented one by one in full frame, and a subtly shifting background evokes the magic of the disappearing art of wet plate photography.
